Open Source

ActiveMQ

ActiveMQ is an open source JMS 1.1 messaging infrastructure that facilitates fast and reliable communication across the enterprise. ActiveMQ integrates seamlessly into any environment including J2EE application servers, lightweight containers and even standalone Java Virtual Machines. It supports clustering, automatic discovery, TCP, SSL, persistence, XA transactions and more. ActiveMQ also supports connectivity between heterogeneous clients such as Ruby, Perl, Javascript, C#, PHP, and Python applications.

The industrial strength caliber of ActiveMQ makes it a natural choice for high volume environments where guaranteed delivery and receipt of messages is critical. As an open source solution, ActiveMQ can also provide welcome financial relief from the costly licensing model of commerical messaging vendors.

ActiveMQ can also provide the backbone for an enterprise-wide integration strategy. In fact, Servicemix, an open source Java Business Integration (JBI) server, relies upon ActiveMQ to manage the flow of messages between web services and other endpoints. The combination of these two products makes it easy to get started toward the path to a service oriented architecture. More information on ActiveMQ may be found at http://activemq.org.
